How to Score 100 in 12th Maths: A Realistic Chapter-by-Chapter Plan
A centum in Class 12 Maths is more achievable than in most subjects, because the paper is drawn tightly from the textbook. The students who miss it usually do not fail on hard questions. They lose marks in twos and threes on things they already knew.
Here is a plan that treats those two problems separately: covering the syllabus, and protecting the marks you have already earned.
Step 1: Finish the book back before you touch anything else
Every exercise question, every example, every book back MCQ. Not selectively. The Samacheer Kalvi Maths paper is built from this material, and a student who has genuinely solved the whole textbook is already at a high score before any guide is opened.
Solve them with a pen, on paper, without looking at the solution first. If you have never written out the steps, you do not know the question, you only recognise it.
Step 2: Secure the one-mark section completely
The MCQ section is the most predictable part of the paper and the easiest to make perfect. It is also where careless students bleed marks quietly.
Target the highest-density chapters first: Complex Numbers, Applications of Matrices and Determinants, Applications of Vector Algebra and Discrete Mathematics. Do them as timed sets, not as reading. Step 3: Build a formula sheet you actually wrote
Copying a printed formula list does very little. Writing your own does a lot, because the act of deciding what goes on it is itself revision.

- Every formula you have already forgotten once
- Principal value ranges for inverse trigonometric functions
- Standard conic parameters and eccentricities
- Integrating factor and reduction formula patterns
Revise this sheet daily for five minutes rather than weekly for an hour.
Step 4: Write full papers under exam conditions
At least four or five complete papers, timed, in one sitting, with no phone. This is the step most students skip, and it is the one that separates a 92 from a 100.
What you are training is not knowledge but pacing: knowing when a question is taking too long and moving on, and leaving enough time at the end to check the sections where marks are cheapest to recover.
Step 5: Stop losing marks you have already earned
Here is where most near-centum scripts leak marks:
- Skipping steps. The correct final answer with two steps missing is not a full-mark answer. Write the step even when it is obvious to you.
- Not stating the formula before using it. One extra line, and it is often separately creditable.
- Dropping units, limits or constants of integration. Small and expensive.
- Rough work mixed into the answer. Keep a marked rough column. An examiner who cannot follow your working cannot award for it.
- Not drawing the diagram. In analytical geometry and applications of integration, the diagram is frequently worth marks by itself.
- Answering the wrong question. Reading "least value" as "greatest value" costs the same as not knowing the topic.
A workable last-thirty-days schedule

The last four days matter more than they look. Opening a new problem type at that point adds anxiety without adding marks. Trust what you have already done.

Keep a mistakes notebook from today. One line per error, written the moment you find it, phrased as the specific thing that went wrong rather than a general feeling. By exam week you will have a personalised list of the exact ways you lose marks, and closing that list is what a centum actually is.
